Where to Eat in Le Marais, Paris: A Local Neighborhood Guide

St. Germaine spritzes on the patio at Le Progrès - a popular cafe in Le Marais

Le Marais, in Paris’s 3rd arrondissement, is the neighborhood my daughter called home for the second half of her study abroad year, which meant we got to experience it the best way, by eating our way through it. One of the biggest draws here is the sheer variety and quality of restaurants, from casual cafés to reservation-worthy standouts, all packed into a walkable, stylish part of the city. We tried several spots during our two-day visit and were consistently impressed. Read on for our favorites and a practical guide to where to eat in Le Marais and if you’re exploring beyond this neighborhood, check out the Paris blog post from last year.

Kubri

Try incredible Lebanese cuisine at Kubri, run by Franco-Lebanese sisters. Every item below was spectacular - hispi cabbage (a signature dish), fried rice with lentils, lamb tartare, whipped labneh, halloumi kataif, kubri hummus, fennel apple fattoush salad, orange wine and a delicious cocktail.

Arcane 17

Fooding Magazine describes Arcane 17 as a “sophisticated neo-bistro of the Haut-Marais mixing the spirit of a French bistro and the soul of a Spanish taberna” and we found this to be pretty accurate! Romantic setting, with delicious, hearty food, and quite possibly the best Basque-style cheesecake we’ve ever tasted.

Le Progrès

Great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Le Progrès is a trendy see-and-be-seen place to eat with an extensive and popular outdoor patio. One of the few places open early for breakfast, we had a delightful avocado toast with smoked salmon one day early and refreshing spritzes later that evening.

Wild and the Moon

Wild and the Moon is a plant-based and organic cafe with several locations in Paris with delicious bowls, smoothies, juices, and desserts.

If you’re cooking at home, of course there’s no where better to find great cheese and bread.

And pick up some stylish flatware from Sabre Paris to eat it on!
